Remembering Yesterday

Remembering Yesterday will be performing in the Howe Town Square Park this Saturday Night, August 18, as a part of the Howe Community Association Concert Series. The concert is sponsored by TJ Iannarrelli's Italian Restaurant. The music starts at 700pm so bring a chair and a friend.

Remembering Yesterday is a high energy acoustic rock group based in Coldwater, Michigan. With pop influenced melodies and a rock upbringing, the band showcases their sound proudly. Their live shows are full of contagious energy leaving everyone wanting more of their painfully true, yet creative song structure.

All three members of the band are from Coldwater, Michigan and truly carry a passion for what they are doing. Twin brothers Aaron and Brian Wood were responsible for starting the band during their senior year of high school. Now, almost three years later, Quinn White has joined the group on lead electric guitar. They continue to write and perform new original material all of the time, growing as a band with each new song they create.

The band has been busy traveling throughout the Midwest in support of their EP, entitled "Life Lessons." They are doing all this while juggling full-time classes, jobs, lives, etc.

Marnee at this week's concert!!

MARNEE, pronounced 'MarnAY', is a 10 years old singer, songwriter, guitarist. She will be appearing this Saturday in the Town Square Park as a part of the Howe Community Association Concert Series. Concert time is 7pm. Admission is free. Bring a chair and a friend for this great night of music from a new phenomenon.
Marnee has been singing since before she could speak . She would sing, though she knew no words. When she was very young, she only sang while she was playing with toys or doodling. It was quite a sight to see her in the back yard, digging in the dirt, singing like an angel. Marnee only sang her songs and she would not sing for anyone .
From the time Marnee was two years old, people commented on her incredible singing & would ask if she was taking singing lessons. We always responded that it was amazing that they even heard Marnee singing because she only sang when she was playing and was unaware that anyone was listening.
At age 3 1/2, Marnee went to the music store with her Dad. While he was paying for some guitar strings, he heard someone picking out scales on a piano. Just then the cashier asked "How long has she been in lessons"? Surprised, after turning around to see it was Marnee, he could only respond "This is the first time she has ever seen a piano".
At age 6 1/2 Marnee asks her dad to teach her guitar. He taught her some chords...then some more and soon she was playing her chords with ease . Marnee was so enthralled with this instrument that we decided to get her a guitar. We found a student guitar on Ebay for $10. $5 more in shipping & Marnee had her own guitar . Marnee could rarely be found without her guitar.
Her parents knew exactly what to get Marnee for her eighth birthday . A Washburn guitar!
At age 9 Marnee performed in public for the first time , at the school talent show. Marnee is "at home" on stage and stunned the audience . Soon after this, she started to play at coffee houses .
At age 10 Marnee wins Top Vocalist (in her category) at Talent Rock in Orlando, Florida. Marnee wins 1st place (in her category) at 'Rising Stars' , a local talent competition .
Other than music class at school, Marnee has never had voice a lesson . Marnee is also fortunate to have a wonderful music teacher at school who has given her direction .
Marnee's father has been the biggest musical influence in her life. He works with her from the understanding that he is teaching Marnee to develop & nurture her gift . Being a musician himself , he has a respect for other artists. He makes suggestions and Marnee determines if she will use a suggestion or not. An example: He suggested to shorten an 11 minute song. He does not interfere with her lyrics or composition but gives her the freedom to develop & mature in her unique musical expression.
Marnee recorded a demo CD in Dec. 2006. This gave a brief glimpse of what her abilities in the studio would be. Beginning her full length CD (entirely written and performed by Marnee) in June 2007, Marnee decided she wanted to record her guitar and vocals simultaneously and to keep the music raw, no effects and little accompaniment. What you hear, is what you get, and what you get is unexplainable. "Down In The Valley" was done in 2 takes.
CDs & Videos are not able to fully capture the amazing musical expression & energy that Marnee exudes. If you have a chance to experience Marnee LIVE.....be ready for a shock! While Marnee is simply doing something she loves, this is a moment you will always remember.
You can read more about Marnee and hear some of her music at http://www.myspace.com/marneeaugust.

Reconciled on the Square!

This Saturday night, July 21, at 7pm, Reconciled will be performing on the Town Square Park in Howe. This concert is being sponsored by First Savings Bank. All concerts in the park are free, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Because they have been reconciled through Christ, it is the desire of Reconciled to worship God in song, and bring his life-saving message to others, through music. With a blend of Contemporary Christian music and God's word, "Reconciled" was first formed in 2003 when a small group came together to do what they love to do best, worship Christ, and play music.

An amazing part of the story is that most of the members did not know each other well until the group was formed. The members come from diverse occupational and musical backgrounds. Yet it soon became evident that they were meant to come together and do what they do. Today, Reconciled is a closely knit group of ten men and women; brothers and sisters in Christ.

Reconciled leads the the musical worship each Sunday at the 900am service at the First United Methodist Church of Sturgis, Michigan, but have also had many opportunities to perform in Sturgis and surrounding communities. Because everyone is called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world today, we welcome the opportunity to play any time, anywhere.

Reconciled is : Vocalists Doug Camburn, Angella Rueppel, Amy Sayers and Robin Schuler, guitarists Greg Thrasher and Fred Mazzoni, Keyboardist Greg Hettinger, bassist James Compton, and drummers Pat Camburn and Nathan Treman.

You can learn more about Reconciled at http://www.myspace.com/reconciledtheband.

All Concerts are at 700pm in the Howe Town Square Park, State Road 120, Howe, Indiana. All questions should be referred to Dewey Miller at 260/562-2260, or howecommunity@yahoo.com.

Two Concerts this weekend!!

Check out the posts on the LaGrange County Community Jazz Band and Hillary McBride for more information on this week's concerts.

Hillary McBride and Country Music

Hillary McBride will be performing at the Howe Town Square Park as a part of the Howe Community Association's Summer Concert Series. The concert will take place at 700pm on Saturday July 7, 2007. The concert's sponsor is Wana Waves of Shipshewana.
Hillary is a solo artist with a passion and determination to sing for the Lord. Hillary says, "I'm okay with wherever he needs me to Worship."
Hillary was born in Florida in 1986, and moved to Indiana soon after with her four siblings. Her parents soon divorced and the trials and tribulations began. Her single mother with five children had marriages that never lasted. This proved to be a struggle for the whole family.
Hillary continues the story, "We moved to Colorado shortly after the divorce when our house burned down, to live with a man we knew little to nothing about. From then on, moving from location to location, from house to house, to many other men, we struggled to get by, and rarely attended school. Although the road we were on was jagged, full of dark alleys, and abusive men, my brothers and sisters and I managed to stand by one another as best we could. Music was my healing process, songs were my medicine, and they gave me a warm hope in my soul that I would have happiness and peace one day.
"Music began to grow on me at the age of five. I could never get enough. I have always known that God our Savior had a plan for my life even when I knew nothing of the Lord's great and unconditional love. I want to help and heal others through my testimony, my stories, my trials and tribulations through the songs I write and sing."
Hillary has been on the Nashville Star television program, done competitions, and performed in various places on various stages.
She is currently working with Brian Rhodes, who worked for Sony Records for several years, and is now working with other labels.
All Concerts are at 700pm in the Howe Town Square Park, State Road 120, Howe, Indiana. All questions should be referred to Dewey Miller at 260/562-2260, or howecommunity@yahoo.com
